fruitbasket upset

there is a game i ove to play with the kids called, "i'll go over the mountain..."
the idea is that you would say something that you'd done, were wearing or whatnot and if anyone else was wearing or had done that, they would get up from their seat and find another one.
for example, "i'll go over the mountain with anyone who is wearing red socks" or "i'll go over the mountain with anyone who likes chocolate ice cream."
one of the things you could say, if you didn't know what to say was "fruitbasket upset!"
everyone would have to get up from their seat and find a new seat.

yesterday, my whol world has become a fruitbasket upset.
in less than 24 hours i've had to redo 9 months of work. and i was working on a deadline. i HAD to be on the road with the best friend to go to the wedding of the getting-married friends by 4am.
talk about insanity.

it all worked out, but it wouldn't have been a problem if the company who i was working with had done their job.
i am sending 14 kids and 4 adults out into the world to do service in the name of Jesus Christ.
this company saw fit to send them into a virtual nest of sex offenders and a sexual predator.
they had no knowledge of the history of the town, the issues with the correctional facility nearby and the problems that the county has with placing past sex offenders.
i could not send the 14 kids there and spend the rest of the week taking it easy by the pool.

fortunately it all worked out, sort of. we ended up having to cancel all the plane tickets, and eating $2700.
and the camp we ended up going to cost $50 more a person. we won't pay that. i just have to get my legal stuff in proper order to fight it.

i'm very impressed with myself, with the adults i work with and most of all, the kids.
everyone came together, i was able to pull all my shit together, and the adults were awesome.
the kids were excited and happy. only one was upset, and it was for different circumstances.

it really makes me feel great about the strength of the group that ended up together.
no matter what happens, i'm confident they will be able to handle it.
